[opensuse] 10.3 online update via yast
When I do an on-line update of 10.3 via Yast, there is a list in the upper left panel that tells what should be updated. This includes security updates in red, and others in blue. I get a list of 30 or so security updated listed, with maybe one or two checked. If I look at the ones that are not checked, I see that I have the same version installed as is available. So, why are they even listed? The same is true for the other updates listed in blue. I admit, not one of your bigger issues. Unless it should not be this way and indicates something is odd. My concern is that, in the apparent confusion, legitimate updates are NOT being listed. Anyone else see this? -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems / Ramböll RST Ramböll Sverige AB Kapellgränd 7 P.O. Hi Roger It's the same here, as much as I remember it always was like that since I use 10.3. It also confused me in the beginning and I always have to scroll thru the list to find out if there is an update available and what. I guess the opensuseUpdater in the taskbar doesn't maintain the list of already installed updates that Online-Update uses. Don't know. However, since i use that opensuseUpdater I don't need to use Online-Update update anymore anyway... That screen is the Patches screen, so it's listing all patches available, including ones already applied to your system (and ones for packages not installed, if I remember correctly).

When you run Online Update, YaST automatically selects patches that you haven't already applied. In other words, if you don't change anything you should always be updated OK. henare -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Unless there are updates for the updater in which case you have to run it twice. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
