I'm trying to install a system with an ancient, low-grade monitor. Is there some way that I can get some sort of text-based install, rather than a GUI/"pretty" one?????? I can't see a bleedin' thing after it starts to go through the INIT process. AURGH!

I believe you have the option of using "yast1" or "yast2" when the install begins. If not, try booting off of the 2nd CD. The 2nd CD used to boot directly into "yast1" IIRC. -- Christopher W. Yes you can at SuSE 7.1. The install insructions indicate to boot off of CD-1 and at the "boot:" prompt enter "YaST1" within 3 seconds. -- Christopher W.
