RE: [SLE] Apache with database
Hi
From: Art Fore [mailto:afore@sonic.net] Does anyone know of an application for use with Apache web server where one can view a database via a web browser in read-only mode?
What database? For MySQL you can use phpMyAdmin and use a MySQL-user with the right to "SELECT FROM" the specified database.

Database is presently in Oracle 8i but I also have it in Access. I can transfer it to Postgres though. Would like to use MySQL, however, it does not support storage of Views. The 8i database is in windows but I want to use Linux. Art

Another option which is free where ever you use it - Firebird. No licence cost even if you use it commercially <g> Server runs on Linux or Windows. I have it running on 8.1 and accessing it from the windows machines, and on web pages using PHP ( It uses the Interbase interface ) http://firebird.sourceforge.net/download.php -- Lester Caine ----------------------------- L.S.Caine Electronic Services
