Hi all, I have an odd problem at the moment with OpenOffice 1.1.3 and SuSE 9.2 (patched kernel, kde 3.3.1). Immediately after a reboot I can start and stop OOo without problems at some point in time later, which I haven't determined as yet I can't start OOo-writer (or any other part of OOo). A small window starts, lots of cpu activity but no main window. Running strace on the startup of OOo-writer yields this output near the end. Any one able to point me in the right direction. My gut feel is that I am exhausting a kernel resource bit not sure how to determine this. munmap(0x427d9000, 3571712) = 0 fcntl64(9, F_SETLK, {type=F_UNLCK, whence=SEEK_SET, start=0, len=0}) = 0 close(9) = 0 gettimeofday({1101802418, 595419}, NULL) = 0 gettimeofday({1101802418, 595813}, NULL) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGXFSZ, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGXCPU, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGVTALRM, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGIO, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGURG, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGWINCH, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGPWR, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGTERM, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGALRM, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGPIPE, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGSYS, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGSEGV, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGBUS, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGFPE, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGABRT, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGTRAP, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGQUIT, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGINT, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 rt_sigaction(SIGHUP, {SIG_DFL}, NULL, 8) = 0 gettimeofday({1101802418, 598646}, NULL) = 0 write(8, "\4\1\2\0\2\0\200\4<\0\2\0\t\0\200\4<\0\2\0\3\0\200\4<\1"..., 84) = 84 read(8, 0xbfffede0, 32) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) select(9, [8], NULL, NULL, NULL) = 1 (in [8]) read(8, "\34\375\211\0\2\0\200\4\"\0\0\0-h\37\1\1\21\250\10\230"..., 32) = 32 read(8, "\34\375\211\0\2\0\200\4\366\0\0\0-h\37\1\1\21\250\10\230"..., 32) = 32 read(8, "\34\375\211\0\2\0\200\4q\1\0\0-h\37\1\1\21\250\10\230\375"..., 32) = 32 read(8, "\1\1\223\0\0\0\0\0\7\0\340\2\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\0\6\0\0\0\230"..., 32) = 32 shutdown(8, 2 /* send and receive */) = 0 close(8) = 0 close(6) = 0 close(7) = 0 close(5) = 0 exit_group(0) The clue seems to be this: read(8, 0xbfffede0, 32) = -1 EAGAIN (Resource temporarily unavailable) Br Jim -- Jim Hamilton Perth, Western Australia
