Listening to a cd while working on my computer is nice ;-). What I do not likeis that after relatively time the Cd player has hickups. Most time the first number is played very well but after that the music starts to hang and the music is not that nice anymore. Is this something that is caused by Suse or is it my cd drive. How to improve the functioning of the cdrom drive. It is a 2x read write. Could I buffer the music or so? Or should I send my cdrom for a service? When I try to play another cd I very often get the pause sign in the the kscd cd player and cannot start playing the cd. Is there a connection with my hickups? -- \\|||// (o) (o) =====================.oOO==( )==OOo.======================= Constant Brouerius van Nidek constant@indo.net.id Bogor Indonesia ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jakarta Building and Fumigation, web site sponsor of Living in Indonesia, A Site for Expatriates, http://www.expat.or.id ********************************************************************************** Registered Linux user 183145

This sounds like dirt or dust on your CD lens. There are various ways to clean it. For example, you may can buy a special CD with little brushes. JDL
Hello Constant I'm far from an expert First i would check audio out and sound card connection. That little 4-pin 4wire jumper cable. Second check the cd drive itself. The only way i know to do this is to try another one.Or try a data cd.See if the drive reads it your cd drive is probably fine.If the drive if fine check that jumper cable.you could check the wires indiviually with a continuity tester. If you do not have such a tester.Buy another jumper cable. They are very, very cheap. If the drive itself is the problem, let me know.I have several lying around. If you pay for shipping,You can have it.I'm in Wyoming USA. this may or may not be feasible.let me know
Sorry about that last message I did not read closely enough that your drive is a read/write.I have no spares of that sort, just readers. Sorry about the confusion Cheers
