[opensuse] I finally switched over to Linux, but ...
I am glad I made the move, ... but still some parts do not work as I "used" to have it. 1. I have a mouse with 5 buttons! On each side the extra button was to switch backwards or forwards, when you a on a web page. Is there a chance I get this back here as well? 2. I used to have Active words, which allowed me to autocomplete text. Like my bank account, my address, my .... Is there an application for Linux? 3. I used (and paid for) Babylon for translation. The free dict is not the same. E.g., in Babylon I hover over a word and press CTRL-right mouse and got a window with the translation for all dictionaries I needed (e.g., Chinese Traditional, Chinese Simplified, German, ...) a. Can I use my Babylon dictionaries? (I may have misunderstood that it is possible)? b. Can I get at least the same functionality back? bye Ronald -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

http://www.linuxforums.org/forum/peripherals-hardware/43542-5-button-mouse.h... (Google: "linux 5 button mouse")

Doesn't seem to exist for Linux, though people would like it. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=98314 (Google: "activewords linux")

a. I don't know. b. Have a look at this: http://www.geocities.jp/nikotuk/xbabylon-e.html I don't know if it's packaged for OpenSuSE 10.3 (Google: "babylon translator linux") Note: all google searches were made sans quotes.

This list is pretty newbie friendly, but have a look at http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html w.r.t. technical issues, e.g. getting that mouse working :-) Hope this helps. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I use imwheel (http://imwheel.sf.net/). There's no rpm for Suse but it wasn't to hard to compile yourself. Although I have to say I used it for a different task: Have a double-click on thumb-button. (I never managed to give the middle button a different task - it will always copy from selection) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I also have such a mouse with a wheel as middle button. Plus two side buttons the left of which doubles up as the middle button for pasting. I tried the site but its having issues at this time. Just how flexible is this thing? I would like to make the right side button do a menu perhaps a graphical script I write myself and call. ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Running Windows I used the middle button to minimize windows. It was a really fast navigating. I never managed to reconfigure the middle button under linux. It will always past text. You can give it an additional function but whos interested in minimizing + paste?? But I can configure the thumb button. My mouse only have one but you can configure all buttons.

As far as I found out: It is not totaly flexible. There is a key mouse in X windows. It simulates this. So you can do everthing the mouse keys can do. In other words imwheel just sends keys. I use qstardict as a replacement for babylon. Qstardict is a qt clone of stardict. When you select a word, a pop-up appears with the translation. I downloaded some babylon dictionaries from the stardict (not qstardict) website and they work. However the stardict people removed the babylon dictionaries; I think they had to... I'm now figuring out how to convert the babylon BGL-files (downloaded from the website of babylon) into a readable format for qstardict.

I re-found the converted babylon files from the stardict site: http://reciteword.sourceforge.net/stardict/babylon.php Now I'm going to test the bgl2txt program, which seems to convert all the BGL-files into text...
