Hello, Can someone find what is this *PCI* sound-card? 1- Neither Windows nor Linux have its driver. 2- This is the output of "lspci": [...] Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs: Unknown device 0003 [...] 3- On its board, you see: Sound BLASTER AWE64D MODEL:CT4650 4- On its chipset, you see: CREATIVE EMU8008 [...] CT8800 - SAT [...] 5- Creative website has no drivers for AWE64 or CT4650 (am I wrong?) or it seems that these models are *ISA* (am I wrong?) and Creative assumes that Windows has its drivers and so, they offer only updates. The AWE64D is different from the AWE64, which as you say, is ISA. I don't think many were produced. I have a vague recollection that it came along a little while after Creative bought out Ensoniq, and was probably one of the cards that Creative developed based on Ensoniq's technology. The little note about it on this page would seem to bear that out: http://www.pcbuyersguide.com/audiobuyersguide/hardware/soundcards/sblive.htm... I use what according to that page is one of your card's ancestors, the Ensoniq Audo PCI128 (well, the PCI64 would have been your card's predecessor.) Luckily plenty of those were made by both Ensoniq and Creative, so it's well supported. Other people have had similar problems, apparently. See: http://www.ebabble.net/html/awe64d.html That has a link to Widows drivers, apparently. For Linux, Given what I know about SB cards of that era, I can't see any standard kernel driver (OSS or ALSA) that would work with the AWE64D. IMHO, given the quality, age, unsupportedness and general oddness of the card, and the price of good soundcards these days, if I were you, I'd probably just buy something more modern and standard instead. I have an AWE64 in an old PII 266 and at the time I could only get it to work with linux Dell said it was a MS problem, MS said it was Dells problem. It is one of the reasons I dumped NT. Support is in the kernel cd /usr/src/linux make menuconfig > sound <M> 100%Sound Blaster Compatibles <M> AWE32 synth -- Collector of vintage computers http://www.ncf.ca/~ba600 Machines to trade http://www.ncf.ca/~ba600/trade.html Open Source Weekend http://www.osw.ca

I happen to have a Linux system running right now with a Creative AWE64. This is an ISA sound card. I did not try it with Windows. With Linux I tried Fedora Core 2, which did not recognize it. Then I tried Knoppix 3.4, and it recognized it. The AWE64 works great with Knoppix 3.4.
