I have an encrypted filesystem, and when I recompile the kernel, (after a cloneconfig), it fails dramatically: /etc/sysconfig/kernel has reiserfs as a module, do I need to add another module to recognise the encrypted system, if so, which one please? mk_initrd -k vmlinuz.rjsf -i initrd.suse / read_super_block: bread failed (dev 03:02, block 8, size 1024) Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02 mk_initrd -k vmlinuz.rjsf -i initrd / # <- minus '.suse' read_super_block: can't find a reiserfs filesystem on (dev 03:02, block 64, size 1024) status error: status=0x58 {DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest} drive not ready for command read_super_block: can't find a reiserfs filesystem on (dev 03:02, block 8, size 1024) Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:02 Richard Foley Ciao - shorter than Aufwiedersehen -- ps. sorry about the ubs sig. Do you mean to say your root filesystem is encrypted? Uau! :-O

Yes... "loop_fish2" at least. But the encrypted filesystems is loaded after the rest of the partitions, or at least the "/", when the system is already running. I don't know if you can get that running :-?
mk_initrd -k vmlinuz.rjsf -i initrd / # <- minus '.suse'
I prefer to edit mk_initrd and add my own settings for ever. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
