Do I need anything besides Qt 2.2.2?

Don't know, but probably. It's a significant improvement on 2.0.
and if not how much trouble is it to compile it in.
It's pretty easy as long as you understand the basics of compiling big chunks of code. You'll need some spare time though - it takes several hours even on my dual PIII machine.

No, just the usual stuff like the jpeg libraries and so on. A basic, reasonably up to date SuSE machine will have all that's required.

It takes about 15 hours on the PII 450 I have here at the office so your machine will probably take 24 hours. If you've got a decent amount of memory, that will make it quite a bit faster. Set it running one evening and it'll be done when you get home from work/whatever the next day. It really does help to compile it yourself because you can use the compiler flags which suit your system. Switching exceptions off, optimisations on and the correct CPU type on the compile line makes for a dramatric improvement in performance. <p>> A few hours on your system...

KDE 2.01? Where's the source?
It's released today, I believe, so go to http://www.kde.org and follow the download links. If you can't wait a day or two for the mirrors to catch up, use anonymous CVS.

What's the "significant improvement"? I know there were some bug fixes, did they make it run a lot smoother or something? I'm assuming you've tried a beta version?
