Hello from Adam: You will choosing between the newest kernel and support code vs the prior generation of kernel code and support code. After the install, it would be wise to then download all the patches via Yast Update for most security updates. If you have the newest hardware, there should be more support for your devices. Dvd burners are supported by both, so you should not have a problem. If you are going to dup copy-protected dvds, you will need to download some other libraries. Mentioned in the below mentioned URL, there is new code from OpenSUSE. What is not exactly explained except as a selling point. I am waiting for the newest version of SUSE . And I am wiser. I plan to pull my hard drive with 9.3 and install a fresh larger drive in my workstation. I then plan a new install rather than a upgrade. A new install will be faster and i will then transfer my old data by hanging the old drive on USB.
