What I know about PAM fits on a postage stamp, but that file would be in the rpm: pam-modules-32bit on 64 bit system. Is that file present? Is the rpm installed? You probably won't be able to login at a text console either, but _maybe_ you could login via ssh from another machine. Otherwise, you could boot from a rescue CD, mount the installed root filesystem, chroot to it and check that your pam hasn't gotten screwed up. Did you do any package installs that prompted to remove a lot of packages recently? Linux will still hand you a loaded gun like this on occasion.
