Suse/Apache ... help please !!!!!
HI All, My server is located in San Diego CA. We had to yank the server from the building it was in because of the threat of fire... The fire was one street over!! Fortunatlely the SDFD was able to ward off the flames and the building was saved.. After plugging our server back in and trying to start apache ... I am receiving the following error: Starting httpd [ Mailman PHP4 ]stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device ..failed I don't understand... nothing has changed! I have never received this error before?? Note: I have not logged in from the machine itself... only through webmin... sendmail works, qpopper works... Any ideas? Paul

Nothing to worry about, a cosmetical error message that has been fixed in later releases. It occurs for example when you use YaST2's runlevel editor to start apache. Peter

The error is not related. At any rate, check the logs. If the machine don't run, you need to read the gauges! Attach a diagnostic apparillo ("tail -f /var/log/httpd/*_log &") and give it a good kicking with "rcapache restart"! You can post relevant parts here. Peter
Thanks Peter, I looked at the error log and found out the problem .... For some reason when i reboot; the host name got chopped off... rather than saying bidmonkey.com it just said bidmonkey .... strange ... the server had been up and running for 6 months at least; since last reboot.... When I was previously looking at the network config; I saw bidmonkey there; and it looked right... so I assumed there was no problem there... -Paul At any rate, check the logs. First install the card. I'll assume it is a pci card, and that your BIOS recognizes it. Assuming hwscan doesn't detect it automatically, open Yast, Network Devices, Network Card. According to http://support.dlink.com/faq/view.asp?prod_id=487&question=General%20Linux, it uses the rtl8139.o module. If it is not detected, click on Configure, ensure it is set for Ethernet, 1, put rtl8139 in the kernel module name field, next configure as needed.
