There's a place where they don't have any revision control. They develop asp pages using MS Interdev. Of course they suggest SourceSafe, and I want them to use CVS. Does anyone know how CVS can be used in such an environment? Thanks in advance.
There is a product called WinCVS that is a CVS client for Windows. I
have not used it, but the WinNT developers used it at a previous
employer. IIRC, the CVS server was a Linux box. The other major
group of developers were on a Solaris box. I think there was also a
group that did a Linux port accessing it over the Internet.

Sure CVS works in such a setup/environment.
I set up a Linux CVS server and let my developers use any CVS client they
wanted on w2k.
WinCVS is just one of them.
It works nicely!

Hello Kaare,
As Windows client I'd recommend CVSGui,
http://cvsgui.org/
formerly known as WinCVS (www.wincvs.org is the same site), we use it
much to our satisfaction and it works in combination with ssh.
On the server site, I'd recommend a Linux server (just kiddin') ---
if i'm not mistaken cvs from Gnu runs under Windows NT.
Check out CygWin, http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/
The list with ported Gnu software to Windows,
http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin/ported.html
contains cvs among the many others.
Good luck! Bye-bye,
Eric

Sure???? Ummm... Interesting. I have more questions about cvs: 1. Anyone knows how to have cvs have a blocking behaviour over the files in the library so that anyone can edit a file while is being editing by someone (as sccs does)? 2. That replace files instead of mixing when you retreive from the repository? I works with cvs linux server and cvs linux and windows (wincvs) clients. Regards, Carlos
