[opensuse] OpenSUSE 11.2 Very Slow Kmail
OpenSUSE 11.2/Kmail is excruciatingly slow. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this and if there is a reason/solution? Thanks in advance. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

With gmail server (pop and smtp) nothing unusual here -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The only time I have noticed Kmail is slow for me is when it is trying to sync one of my two IMAP accounts and then there is only a 1-2 second hang, nothing that I can't live with. -- "We must plan for freedom, and not only for security, if for no other reason than only freedom can make security more secure." I too have noticed it is slow on gmail imap. Deleting multiple emails appears to be done synchronously, and you think you have to wait, but in fact you can move to other tasks while that happens in the background. But that is with imap, and I don't see why pop would be slow. Perhaps you previously used "disconnected imap"? (Disconnected imap is never fully explained anywhere, but the best I can tell is it downloads copies of everything just like pop, and then just matches status changes (read, deleted, etc) so that there is not a server connection established for each of these actions. But I'm guessing. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Actually, I don't think that there are a ny details. I accepted defaults when I did a fresh install of 11.2 on a dedicated HD. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Does it slow down when you edit messages? Maybe like https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119281 ? Kind regards, Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It's not the coposer that's having problems, it's upstream from that at the get meddages stage that is so slow. In fact, it's slow enough for me to revert to Thunderbird. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Probably the spamassassin filter is the culprit here. You can disable it by removing the "SpamAssassin Check" filter in Settings/Configure Filters. Kind regards, Peter -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
