You can always check with a direct zypper in why zypper thinks it would be a bad idea to install them:
zypper in NetworkManager-kde4-libs which will likely print the reason of why not.

Also, gstreamer is never updated as far as I can remember, and amarok and kaffeine both have missing plugins. vlc almost always works, and when it doesn't, mplayer does, but neither of them is the default for any multimedia file, and I haven't taken the trouble to learn how change the defaults. But I was wondering if some of these non-updates were part of the problem, and if I needed to do something.
