[opensuse] email problems
Hi I've upgraded to opensuse 12.3. Everything so far seems to be okay except my email. I can send and receive messages to my imap server but am not able to retrieve anything from the various pop servers, gmail, hotmail etc. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve this or how I can begin to track down what is going wrong? Had no problem retrieving mail from the pop servers before the upgrade. Oh and I did an upgrade rather than a fresh install. Thanks in advance. It was provided in his OP: http://fm.no-ip.com/SS/Moz/emailUAsm216.png -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Where did you find that? It certainly wasn't in the original message I read and he later said he ran KMail. His problem may be with KMail and not 12.3 in general. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Found it automatically in OP via: user_pref("mailnews.headers.showUserAgent", true); -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." I don't know where you're looking, but when I go back to the original message and look at the headers I get: <much deleted> From: eddie <eddieleprince@lamifidele.co.uk> To: opensuse@opensuse.org Subject: [opensuse] email problems Date: Sun, 17 Mar 2013 17:43:29 +0000 Message-ID: <1454223.ePycTZAN97@gretelle.howson.net> User-Agent: KMail/4.10 (Linux/3.7.10-1.1-desktop; KDE/4.10.0; x86_64; ; ) Precedence: bulk Mailing-List: contact opensuse+help@opensuse.org; run by mlmmj X-Mailinglist: opensuse List-Post: <mailto:opensuse@opensuse.org> List-Help: <mailto:opensuse+help@opensuse.org> List-Subscribe: <mailto:opensuse+subscribe@opensuse.org> List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org> List-Owner: <mailto:opensuse+owner@opensuse.org> List-Archive: <http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/> X-MIME-Notice: attachments may have been removed from this message MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" X-Virus-Scanned: by amavisd-new at relay1.suse.de X-Spam-Status: No, score=-0.899 tagged_above=-20 required=5 tests=[BAYES_50=0.001, MY_SUSE=-1, RDNS_NONE=0.1] X-Spam-Score: -0.899 X-Spam-Level: Hi I've upgraded to opensuse 12.3. I still had Thunderbird setsup so I checked that, and it's fine. But about 6 months back I moved to opera, which is also working Why not delete a gmail account completely and then re-create it That or trawl through all the settings. But upgrade etc doesn't touch the settings. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You could try disabling ipV6 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What difference would that make when imap works and pop3 doesn't? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

My current set up is: Kernel 3.7.10-1.1-desktop x86_64 GNU/Linux openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) KDE 4.10.00 "release 1" KMail 4.10 I am using kmail as my email client. I've also tried upgrading my laptop by doing a clean install. No luck with pop servers there either. (my laptop is 32 bit). By the way, I don't use Kwallet but type my passwords in as and when needed. I don't get any error messages. It's as if there is no mail there, however, I can log on to the pop servers directly via internet and the messages are there including messages from the suse list as I had subscribed to the list via my pop account. I've set this one up via my imap server in order to try and resolve this problem.
