Hi all. I am looking for some recommendation for a NAS. To be used to store backups of my three home servers as I am fed up rotating LTO tapes every week and would prefer to perhaps do quarterly tape backups and nightly incremental NAS backups. I have an old Buffalo TerraStation however it is pretty terrible using it with Linux and only really works wind SMB of AFP shares reliably. I have looked at building a FreeNAS unit as I have used Freenas extensively in my previous jobs. Perhaps if anyone knows of a good dual NIC ITX board available now? Alternatively I have heard QNAP are guite good? Anyone care to weigh in with their experiences? Thanks
I can recommend QNAP. OS has been great and has very well thought out privacy features, if that's what your into. Very stable as well. I have a 5 year old 4 bay unit that I wouldn't think about replacing. --- -James On 2021-11-08 18:31, Paul Groves wrote:
