Does zypper really need to access the configured repositories just to remove an application, zypper rm? The reason I am asking is because my cable modem at my house kind of died and without knowing that zypper wouldn't even be able to remove a package without accessing the internet I bet you can guess the kind of shock I was in when zypper spit out the first error because it wasn't able to access a repo. If zypper does not need to refresh the repos just to remove a package can this be done in future versions to help save bandwidth of both the users and the servers, also make zypper rm usable without an active internet connection, I know that rpm -e works without internet connection, then again rpm doesn't even work with the repos as far as I know. That would just make removing a package take longer, seeing as how with no internet connection I would have to disable all the installation sources just to remove a package. -- "We must plan for freedom, and not only for security, if for no other reason than only freedom can make security more secure." So just use rpm -e instead surely? Jon -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Jon That is what I ended up doing, but the reason I asked my question here is to see if zypper rm could be made to act like rpm -e to zypper does not try and refresh the repos. I got my answer the the question, and it is not possible so it looks like rpm still has its uses over zypper. -- "We must plan for freedom, and not only for security, if for no other reason

I reported this problem as a bug a while ago, read the explanations here https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=304150 The reason I am asking is because my cable modem

I agree that what you suggest is the user-expected behaviuor, however the process is much more complicated (sometimes in excess) HTH. Thanks for the time Hi, "zypper rm -r name of repository name" and use your instalation repository name. Try zypper rm --help for a better explanation. Regards Dave P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
