Hello Vincent, Hello, I have Dell Inspiron 7500 with 8.2 Pro Installation. I remember of having to install twice: the first, the installation did not proceed as expected -- it messed up my window installation which was already on it. So, I used Partion Magaic to divide/set partitions for Linux installation, and installed again -- then it went fine. I performed custom installation. I am experiencing some difficulties getting things to work via network but that is all. Regards, LN. -----Original Message----- From: Vincent Colombo [mailto:vcolombo@wi.rr.com] Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2003 12:37 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] SuSE on Dell Laptop Hey, I'm trying to get SuSE set up on my girlfriends new Dell Inspiron 1100 and am having some issues. The ACPI doesn't install properly (I get the message about parts being installed but some things missing) and the bootsplash doesn't work. Even with splash=silent in the menu.lst I still get the plain ol' text boot. I've tried doing the install with the boot option of acpi=force and that didn't help. Doing it with acpi=off apm=on got apm working correctly but I don't know if that will allow me to do things like suspend to disk. If anyone here is running 8.2 on a Dell laptop and has any tips I'd appreciate it.
