[SLE] Vanishing hard drive space?
My SuSE 6.3 OS is installed on my /dev/hda5 partition. I run KDE. A few days ago I had 96 meg of free space, and each day I've watched this figure dwindle unexplainedly. I'm down to next to nothing for free space presently, and can't even print for lack of space. I've done no installs of new software, no major saves from any software (as in Star Office), and I cleaned house on my temporary files, yet my HD space is vanishing. Mostly I just use Netscape on a daily basis. I dual boot with Windows daily. Could this have something to do with my problem? Has anyone ever experienced this before? Is there a cure? Hi, Have a look at the cache files Netscape creates. I rember that some of the netscape versions do not clear the cache even when marked to do so. ~/.netscape/cache I believe there is a macro someone has written back in the archives to clear this on a regular basis. (all on one line mind you) 30 0 * * * find $HOME/.netscape/cache -type f -atime +5 -exec rm -f {} \; >/dev/null 2>&1 which will check every day at 12:30am for old cache files (over 5 days old) and remove them. Change the interval for checking as needed. gs> Regards gs> gs> Graham Smith gs> --------------------------------------------------- gs> On 07-Aug-2000 Lawrence Sayre wrote: gs> > My SuSE 6.3 OS is installed on my /dev/hda5 partition.
