Just ordered a Liteon Lightscribe drive. Checked online not much art and Lightscribe.com has no Linux stuff. Tried Google looks like many are looking. Also go to the LaCie site http://www.lacie.com/support/index.htm?id=10011 They have Linux software there for download. I have used it. It works well. Tom. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ill try it with the other when I get a fast connection at the library. Only dialup is available here. In any case i was looking for artwork not the software. -- _______ _______ _______ __ / ____\ \ / / ____|_ _\ \ / / | | \ \ /\ / / (___ | | \ \ / / | | \ \/ \/ / \___ \ | | \ \/ / | |____ \ /\ / ____) |_| |_ \ / \_____| \/ \/ |_____/|_____| \/ | \ /|\ || |\ / |~~\ /~~\ /~~| //~~\ | \ / | \ || | X |__/| || |( `--. |__ | | \| \_/ / \ | \ \__/ \__| \\__/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Carl, the LaCie software works well. You MUST install the lightscribe software first. For artwork, there are freebies you can download at one or both of the sites. I also use Gimp to do most of what I need....the LaCie software will use the images just fine. Fred -- A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. That is only the software not the artwork I seek. On Wed, 2008-03-12 at 20:09 +0100, Mike wrote:

I also have Lightscribe drive here. There is no good programs for Lightscribe for Linux. There is one very basic program that can draw texts, but that's all. There are no programs that can draw graphics. To have full Lightscribe experience I use Windows XP+Nero 6 Ultra Edition+Lightscribe plugin. -- -Alexey Eremenko "Technologov" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The www.lightscribe.org site also has a graphical "template" version available, with lots of libraries of images, all free. Interestingly, the image libraries are available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, although the template label utility is only available for Windows. The images should work with any of the utilities that can use a background image, though. As you mentioned, the LightScribe Simple Labeler utility does text only, but it beats a Sharpie pen, and it's relatively fast. The Linux version is identical to the Windows version, so far as I can tell. Note that you can use the system software to select faster (lighter text) or darker text (takes longer) burning. I understand that LaCie may also have Linux support available, although I haven't had time to look there yet. Now that I'm reminded, I think I'll check their website today. Check the Lacie site.....get the software and there are freebie art there as well. I do some of my own "art" with Gimp. The 4L software from Lacie will use it.
