This is probobly a stupid question with an obvious answer. I don't know how to correctly install a .src.rpm. When I install one, it installs fast and the files aren't there. For instance, a 'kernel-source' source rpm that is 190MB installs very fast and no new files are in /usr/src. How do install one correctly

A src.rpm is, as the name suggests, a source rpm. When you install it, it will place the source tarballs it contains in /usr/src/packages/SOURCES and the spec file in /usr/src/packages/SPECS, where you can then manipulate it with rpmbuild, for example "rpmbuild -bp /usr/src/packages/SPECS/<specfile>" to unpack it in BUILD and apply patches However, for the special case of the kernel sources, you most likely don't want the src.rpm, you want the kernel-source.i586.rpm (looks like a binary rpm, and is found among the binary rpms but really contains the kernel sources), which when installed, will be put in /usr/src/linux
