[opensuse] Evolution default browser
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 Hi all, I've got Evolution installed on oS Tumbleweed using KDE, and for some reason, it doesn't respect the fact that Firefox is my default browser - -- every link I try to click on opens in Chromium. Is there any way to change things around? I didn't see any option in the configuration for browser choice. I've googled around on and off for a couple of days now and haven't found anything useful. In systemsetting there is a module Applications with a tab Standard Applications. There is an entry Web browser which can be configured to point to your web browser of choice. -- fr.gr. That's the curious thing -- the computer is set up to use Firefox for its default, and other applications respect that. It's just Evolution that doesn't seem to for whatever reason.

Maybe you are configuring it in KDE when it is a gnome app? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

That is true, but it has to be pulling the browser details from somewhere. The "where" is what I'm trying to figure out :P -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Have you inspected Evolution/gnome config files in your home folder using something like kwrite? Seems evolution is not checking the KDE config at all and gnome has the reputation of config changing a bit of a "hunt the setting" -- opensuse:tumbleweed:20170924 Qt: 5.9.1 KDE Frameworks: 5.38.0 KDE Plasma: 5.10.5 kwin 5.10.5 kmail2 5.6.1 akonadiserver 5.6.1 Kernel: 4.13.3-1-default Nouveau: 1.0.15_1.2 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have, but I didn't see anything obvious. I ended up solving it by uninstalling Chromium, and it immediately picked up Firefox as the browser of choice. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Very odd behaviour. Did you reinstall chromium and see if it went bonkers again? -- opensuse:tumbleweed:20171001 Qt: 5.9.1 KDE Frameworks: 5.38.0 KDE Plasma: 5.10.5 kwin 5.10.5 kmail2 5.6.1 akonadiserver 5.6.1 Kernel: 4.13.4-1-default Nouveau: 1.0.15_1.2 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Just a quick update -- it looks like installing Chromium results in the "I default to thee" behavior, but installing a random browser like Qupzilla, or FF Developer Edition doesn't. So I'm curious if it maybe looks for Chromium first, and then if not found, defaults back to FF? Either way, I've got three browsers now, with links opening up in my default browser at this point. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQEzBAEBCgAdFiEE7GM/Dul8WSWn72odQ1nEo4DFCIUFAloJwAQACgkQQ1nEo4DF CIX7Hgf/YpjwMGoBbncakdlxmV/gJlv/H2ZROUTJn7Dm65rnYjxNUG9S3FPTI3nz TDpthUsdKagDlQy4xuQTjf+wP3g6VkruJUbfHqO3BuaCBmSUvzDmBwaJtqOpNipJ 4PP6KwzNkxT3JOok3zHoKtETwgKXW3A70XrowFo1HF5AxSvjtADmOm3wbor9SYAH ulwwwcYJyztccmV18zxjyAYdwbBmEPfokrPZMYdCXgBqasDOlboPaSuy81njetHX PCdPLogI80aNb9sjAk05d4bvnRDm47z6LQ4JWxiKjiiU0jLUuFy0MNUpGr1NyB/1 vTbMiqYexL7pRT5E0VavzrAuvj+B/g== =HC0C -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
