Hi I have a crontab entry that backs up all my customised configuration, but how to make crontab send me an email with the output of the scripts crontab runs? I guess I have to pipe it in some way but I'm not sure how. Thanx for any help. At the bottom of your crontab use MAILTO={login name of person to get mail} However if you crontab is populated with stuff that you don't want mail for then there are various ways to stop email from coming from them. One is add after the commands '> /dev/null 2>/dev/null' or so a more complicated setup use: MAILTO="" 1 1 * * * echo "Cron entry 1" MAILTO=sean 2 2 * * * echo "Cron entry 2" MAILTO="" 3 3 * * * echo "Cron entry 3" Hope you get the jist. I just set up an alias in /etc/alias root: your@email.address, \root (Remember to escape the root!) then run newaliases Now you get Roots emails - which is what, by default cron sends output to. There is another option, in /etc/cronttab - mailto: your@email.address but I've never got this working!! Kev Brevsville Administrator wrote:

I believe the cron entry for mail is MAIL = username Clifford ...Well, I know we're dying and there's no sign of a parachute... Tori Amos On Tue, 16 May 2000, Kev Jackson wrote:
