Have any of you on this list used debian ? Yast and 'you' work well, and yes apt works. But in some debian sites come the wrong time of month many sites with *.deb files (opps ive just run out of bandwidth....) sites are not responsive so then its the compliling source code route. I do like debian, it works, but apt has limitations - compiling software takes longer than an extra 40 seconds in yast. Suse avoids a lot of these pitfalls. Im not trying to flame bait anybody but thats my observations and the reason why im still a suse 'user'. Send instant messages to your online friends http://uk.messenger.yahoo.com

Indeed, also Ubuntu, which is really nice.

It does and when you manage as many machines as I do, you give a great deal of thanks to the wonderful people at apt4rpm: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/ :) welcome to the list. Regards, Ben
