Hi folks This is going to sound strange but it has been so long since i have had to manually update the kernel i have basically forgotten the steps for opensuse As you can see from my sig block below i am using stock off the dvd kernel with normal updates if any i am have the odd pregnant pause now and then that i believe is the kernel thing I have the Nvidia driver from the repo installed and working ok now what and where do i get the kernel form and is it just a case of unpacking it with rpm or is there more daft question i know but it is probably 5 plus years since i have had cause to install a new kernel .. It's totally different than it was five years ago assuming you just want to try the latest test kernel. http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Kernel_of_the_day I advise following the step(s) under: Testing Kernel of the Day That way the old kernel should be left in place and you can always boot back into it. You can also install multiple kernel versions with YaST, which uses a newer feature in zypper.
