I just compiled kde 3.3.1 on suse 9.1 kernel 2.6.8 vanilla qt 3.3.3 (compiled) and kcontrol says that I have only: CDE MS Windows 9x Motif Motif Plus Platinum SGI
as my styles. I have so far compiled (in this order): qt-3.3.3 arts-1.3.1 kdelibs-3.3.1 kdebase-3.3.1 kdeartwork-3.3.1 thinkeramik-3.2.1
even thinkeramik style is missing! The colors and window-decorations are there though. What is wrong?????????????????
You don't even have hicolor or riscos? Exactly how did you compile it? I used : ./configure --prefix=/usr/local make make install
OK, then how do you start it? What environment variables have you set, and how have you set them?

I use startx (starts kde) and kdm (from runlevel 5, and from console typing '/usr/local/bin/kdm') I use the variables: KDEDIR=/usr/local/ QTDIR=/usr/local/lib/qt3 I also edited /etc/profile (changed anything that had '/opt/kde3' to '/usr/local') and /etc/ld.so.conf (and ran ldconfig)

Intreeigued What is the purpose of Red Hatting a Suse install most strange , Itś not as if the software is not available for Suse it is this is it in use . I would strongley recomend you delete remove dissable the stuff you have compiled and install the correct Suse components you would not have these problems then .
