All, I've updated the GNOME 1 CD Install with the following; Added Beagle Added F-Spot Added Tomboy Added kernel-smp and kernel-bigsmp Added gstreamer-default-plugins (fixes broken volume control) Added compat-libstdc++ Both a full ISO and a delta ISO is available. See http://www.opensuse.org/1_CD_install for details. Cheers, Magnus
what is the difference between delta and standard iso ?
If you downloaded the version from 20050909, then you only have to download the delta (much smaller download compared 75MB compared to 680MB). Then use applydeltaiso to make the new full ISO. For information about this, see http://www.opensuse.org/Download_Instructions Cheers, Magnus

Hi, I just installed and tested super-openSUSE-RC1-20050912-standard-gnome.iso. Overall a very fast distro compared to 9.3. Does this version contain any SUPER enhancements? I did have a couple of problems/suggestions: 1) I could not find gnome-terminal anywhere on the menu, only xterm? Is this on purpose. I would higly recommend including gnome/terminal! 2) I was unable to switch my keyboard to danish. Nothing happened when I chose keyboard under hardware in YAST. I had to do it manually in xorg.conf. 3) None of the modules under YAST/hardware are working!? 4) The YAST/Online Update NVidia installer failed to correct xorg.conf. When I tried to change the vesa driver to nvidia, the screen became awfully grained?!! 5) The side-scolling of my synaptics touchpad is not working by default (has been for all other SUSE versions). 6) Beagle worked right after installation but failed after reboot. That's it for now. Kashif On Sun, 2005-09-11 at 21:36 -0600, Magnus Boman wrote:

I did have a couple of problems/suggestions: 1) I could not find gnome- terminal anywhere on the menu, only xterm? Is this on purpose. I would higly recommend including gnome/terminal! I didn't include it on purpose as I don't use it myself. Just a waste of memory if you ask me :) Please add this to the "missing packages" section on http://www.opensuse.org/1_CD_install and I'll see if I can get it in for the next update
2) I was unable to switch my keyboard to danish. Nothing happened when I chose keyboard under hardware in YAST. I had to do it manually in xorg.conf. Hmm... I have a full install on one of my machines and I have the same issue. You can do the same with the Keyboard Indicator applet if you don't want to manually edit xorg.conf
3) None of the modules under YAST/hardware are working!? Do you really mean NONE or only the things that has to do with SaX? I can't start anything that has to do with SaX even on a full (5 cd) install.
4) The YAST/Online Update NVidia installer failed to correct xorg.conf. When I tried to change the vesa driver to nvidia, the screen became awfully grained?!! I have issues on my full install as well. We need to try to get some more information and file a bug report.
5) The side- scolling of my synaptics touchpad is not working by default (has been for all other SUSE versions). If anyone know which modules (rpm package) this depends on, please let me know so that I can add it.
6) Beagle worked right after installation but failed after reboot. I don't have this issue on my installation. Any error messages that can help us troubleshot?
I just reinstalled my machine. Before I go to YaST Online Update to fetch the NVidia driver, SaX2 works fine, but after I updated the driver, it doesn't work anymore. I'll try to file a bug report for this tomorrow (unless someone else already did it) >>> On Sun, Sep 18, 2005 at 9:49 am, in message <432D3819.73C1.0096.0@novell.com>, mboman@novell.com wrote: >> I did have a couple of problems/suggestions: >> 1) I could not find gnome- terminal anywhere on the menu, only xterm? > Is >> this on purpose. Done

You are right it is the things related to SAX. Keyboard and mouse modules are not working and when I press to configure SAX it wants to install SAX package but noting happens.
5) The side- scolling of my synaptics touchpad is not working by default (has been for all other SUSE versions). If anyone know which modules (rpm package) this depends on, please let me know so that I can add it.
I don't know which rpm package, but I know it depends on the evdev kernel module (should be built into the kernel).

BTW: Your mailer breaks quoting and produces "Kammquoting" (comb quoting). Could you please fix this? (Or shall I create a bugzilla entry? ;-)
If anyone know which modules (rpm package) this depends on, please let me know so that I can add it.
