I do think it might be your desktop color settings. What is you XF86 config like ?

I've ran Acroread at 8, 16 and 32 bit without a problem. Maybe 24 is the killer here? If nothing else, he/she should uninstall the SuSE and acroread from Adobe and reinstall from scratch.
