[opensuse] K3B DVD Copy Problem
(Linux Earth-svr 2.6.25.11-0.1-default #1 SMP 2008-07-13 20:48:28 +0200 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux) (K3B 1.0.5) Ive been playing around with K3B trying to learn its capabilities. One of the things I tried was copying an encrypted DVD. Didn't work. I found a meta package that supposedly contains everything you need to make multimedia work. Didn't work. I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. Anyone have any suggestions? I've attached a screen shot so you can see where the problem occurred. (Error recovering css keys.) Here's the debugging output from K3B: System ----------------------- K3b Version: 1.0.5 KDE Version: 3.5.9 "release 49.1" QT Version: 3.3.8b Kernel: 2.6.25.11-0.1-default Devices ----------------------- TSSTcorp CDRWDVD TS-H493B D200 (/dev/sr0, ) [CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM] [DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW] [SAO, TAO, RAW, SAO/R96P, SAO/R96R, RAW/R16, RAW/R96P, RAW/R96R] TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653B D300 (/dev/sr1, ) [CD-R, CD-RW, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R DL] [DVD-ROM, DVD-R Sequential, DVD-R Dual Layer Sequential, DVD-RW Restricted Overwrite, DVD-RW Sequential, DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD+R Dual Layer, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW] [SAO, TAO, RAW, SAO/R96P, SAO/R96R, RAW/R16, RAW/R96P, RAW/R96R, Restricted Overwrite] -- Don Henson

You are probably missing libdvdcss. You can get that from the VLC repository (check the repositories page in the opensuse wiki). Be aware that usage of libdvdcss might be illegal dependent on where you are located (which is probably the reason why it's not included in openSUSE by default.) E.g. in Germany using libdvdcss is "Umgehung einer technisch wirksamen Kopierschutzmaßnahme", although one might wonder how a copy protection can be considered technically working if I can circumvent ist ;) Regards, Matthias -- Matthias Bach www.marix.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Sorry. I had it installed before the problem, I remember seeing it flash past during the install, and I just checked. It's installed. Good guess, though. That was my first guess as well. -- Don Henson

What version of k3b do you have installed? There is one from the openSUSE repositories and one from Packman. If you haven't already, could you try the one from Packman? -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
