[SLE] username@bin:~> after login, why? Let someone read this!
Hi guys; I have never seen this before SuSE 6.4. Whenever I login I get username@bin:~> as the prompt instead of username@hostname:~> for both root and others. When I used YaST1 for installation, it set the right hostname that I gave to the system. But, now I installed with YaST2 and I get the wrong hostname. I checked /etc/hosts, /etc/HOSTNAME and everything is right everywhere. The only think I suspected was when I check the shells in User Manager, they all have /bin/..., which I didn't mess up. Now the problem is all programs report the hostname of my machine as "bin" which isn't right. This annoys me e.g. when installing new tarballs or programs saying unknown host. This's standalone machine. Does anyone know where "bin" is hardwired into SuSE 6.4 system? SuSEconfig says unknown host, others say "bin" as the hostname, even my screensaver! thanks -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
