I upgraded both my desktop and my laptop to the Mantel 2.4.16 RPMs, and the desktop upgrade went smoothly. But on the laptop, although pcmcia_core loads, I get this error: .../lib/modules/2.14.16-4GB/kernel/drivers/pcmcia/i82365.o: init_module: No such device I also get an "unresolved symbol pci_irq_mask"; and no more PCMCIA modules load after that. Anybody have an idea what I might have done wrong? This is a SuSE 7.2 Professional install on an IBM ThinkPad i1500. The card that should eventually get recognized is an IBM Ethernet II card. I did perform the usual ritual invocations of mk_initrd and lilo. -- =========================================================== Glenn Holmer (gholmer@ameritech.net) ----------------------------------------------------------- Performing music well is a matter of distorting the score to produce the desired illusion, namely the existence of the score in a pure state. ----------------------------------------------------------- -Shadow, 1975 ===========================================================

Stick with suse official kernel. Mantel's kernels always had problem with pcmcia. I don't know why. I've had the same problem. -- Nadeem Hasan nhasan@nadmm.com http://www.nadmm.com/

I not. OK, i compiled the kernel from source.... But I bet you have not compiled the pcmcia-cs for your running kernel. Get them, make config, make all, make install, reboot and then it should work.. Hubert doesn't compile in the PCMCIA modules into his development kernels so yes..you would have to get the PCMCIA pkg and compile them in for it. :) * Rene Engelhard (mail@rene-engelhard.de) [011215 11:34]: ->Nadeem Hasan wrote: ->> Stick with suse official kernel. I am too lazy....:) Maybe I will someday. I think I have recompile it anyway to get tulip card working full duplex. Ben Rosenberg wrote:
