re[4]: [SLE] The Linux / Unix Mentality
The major corporation approved choices for a Java Server platform: Solaris (Sun), Redhat, SuSE.
Note the absence of MS in that list.
This is no surprise. Microsoft got into a big law suit with Sun over this very issue. I think Microsoft considers Sun's Java a threat to its big .NET enterprise.

I was surprised. There is no indication I know of that Sun is considering dropping MS support, so why should our customer care what MS thinks. Today we use WinNT/IIS/Tomcat/Sun's JRE with a MsSQL back-end. I fully expected to just have to upgrade the OS to W2K, thus saving admin training costs. (We have 2 full-time admins for the project.) Instead, they want us to change OS/webserver, and Ms-SQL use is "discouraged". A Oracle web-farm running on a Linux cluster is supposed to be available in the data-center as an alternative shortly!!
