[opensuse] Disable KSnapshot<->Print Screen connection
Hello, I have a user running KDE on openSuSE 10.3 who needs the print screen button NOT do anything when pressed. Right now it brings up KSnapshot. I've looked all over in the KDE Control Center, both with the search and Can't find anything about it. Oddly enough I do find "Alt+Print" and "Ctrl+Print" in the keybindings list and they don't seem to do anything. But I can't find the place where Print Screen is mapped to KSnapshopt. If I search for "ksnapshot" in the help-center search it does lead me to the Keyboard Shortcuts" screen but I've looked all through it and can't find it. Is this a SuSE-specific setting or a general KDE one? Benjamin, can you help with this? under control center -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Shortcuts -> Global Shortcuts -> Miscellaneous, the following are defined, but don't seem to work: Window Screenshot alt+print Desktop Screenshot ctrl+print Nothing happens. I would expect ksnapshot --current for alt+print and just kshapshot for ctrl+print. What else do I need to check? -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. Alt-print screen (sysrq) is used by the kernel according to /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sysrq.txt, so it's unavailable for X. I have no idea about ctrl-print though. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ha, ha! :-P In my system, 'alt+print' does produce a window capture. 'ctrl+print' does nothing, and 'print' captures the entire display. Gnome, of course. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I'm sure it works somehow, too, in kde, only that I can't say how, as I don't use it much. Maybe you have to start some application first, an applet perhaps. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. On my 10.3 KDE system 'alt+print' produces a window capture and 'ctrl+print' captures the entire display. I have to paste the results into another application (e.g. openoffice writer) to see them. 'print scr' by itself brings up ksnapshot with the full screen captured. -- regards John johnmking_uk@yahoo.co.uk -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yes, and in kcontrol this is defined in exactly this way! :-( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I asked on the KDE list and this is a general KDE setting. You might bug them about it. -- ---------------------- System Administrator - Cedar Creek Software http://www.cedarcreeksoftware.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
