Loud Speakers Hissing after install of KDE 3.2
Good Day, Since install KDE 3.2 my SLP 9.0 i386 AMD Athlon has been spitting constant hissing noises. My sound cards is an Ensoniq AudioPCI ES1371. Any combination of kmixer modifications do not disable the hissingf. If I play a video with sound, the sound is fine until the video is over and then hissing. I have tried configuring ALSA 0.9 with alsactl and kcontrol->Sound->Sound System. When sounds in enabled during boot (via I believe /etc/init.d/alsasound) the hissing starts before KDM comes up. If I issue a: /etc/init.d/alsasound stop as root, the kicker dies and so does my xterm. This all started with the install of KDE 3.2. I have changed back from ALSA to OSS. Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? Does anyone have any suggestions? Best Regards. -- _/_/_/ Bob Pearson gottadoit@mailsnare.net _/_/_/ "The best way to get information on Usenet is not to ask a _/_/_/ question, but to post the wrong information." - Aahz' Law

I have the same problems. Try in Kmix > advanced to put out IEC985. ( just klik on the green button, so it's out ) That did it for me. Don't forget to close Kmix after that, or to save your session. GJ
