Further experimentation has yielded the following: setserial -g /dev/ttys1 gets I/O error setserial -g /dev/ttyS1 (note cap S) gets a good response of the settings minicom doesn't like ttyS1. Says "argument to -p must be a pty" Seems that somehow the ttyS1 is the correct dev to use. It seems to belong to group uucp where ttys1 is in group tty. What is the difference between the two device files? Any info is appreciated.
