[SLE] Internet Gateway -- virtual
hi i'm back !! finished my exams and i'm back with new energy ;) thought u guys could solve a problem. i installed vmware, configure linux on a virtual file system. i want that system to be my gateway to the internet. i'll give u the details host system: name -- houdini.cheedu.dyndns.org ip 172.16.160.1 interface vmnet1 with the guest OS guest os: name --- mirage.cheedu.dyndns.org ip 172.16.160.129 interface eth0 with the host OS mind u , i dont have an ethernet card/adapter. it's virtual. because i've 128 mb of ram on my pc, which is quite indecent considering i bought my pc a year and a half ago, i've decided to allocate 20 mb to the guest os. what should happen is i should dial the isp from the guest OS. all connections from host OS to the internet should go through the guest OS. the guest OS has ipchains , squid running on it. Q1 : how should i configure it ? right now from the host OS, i cant ping the outside the guest OS when connected to net from the guest Q2: how much ram is essential ? thanx in advance cheedu -- Optimist ? No... Pessimist ? No...
