Erhm.. It's a silly question, but I cannot understand where I am worong.. My partitions are so composed: -1 winXp (ntfs) -2 store (fat32) -3 linux (ext3) -4 ext -5 win2k (ntfs) -6 linux swap I'm used to use XOSL to load OS, but when I installed suSE 7.3 instead of Slackware (at the same partition) I cannot install LILO to the ROOT partition. I don't know what happens.. It was working before, I could say to XOSL to boot Linux with its own LILO but now I cannot "write" LILO in the root partition, but ONLY in the MBR. Can anyone explain me? Could you please post the output of 'fdisk -l' or at least state the size of those partitions? It could be that you're running into the 1024 cylinder barrier. Philipp -- I do read the list so additional private mails are neither necessary nor wanted.

I use XOSL- put Lilo in the partition where you've installed Linux. This would be for your set-up hda3. Select "boot sector of the root partition" in the options for "Where do you want to install LILO?". HTH Terence
