[opensuse] XMMS trouble opening mp3 files
Hello list users: I have associated XMMS with mp3 files. When I double click on an mp3 file with empty space in the name either in krusader or in konqueror file manager XMMS starts but does not play the given file. The file name in XMMS playlist window becomes the last word of the real filename. For example clicking on "Song Artist - Song Title.mp3" becomes "Title" in XMMS playlist and the song is not started. Dragging the files into an alrady opened playlist works and the files are played. I also associated mp3 with amarok and with it this problem does not show up. I have SUSE 10.2 with packman's XMMS: xmms-lib-1.2.10-200.pm.2 xmms-1.2.10-200.pm.2 Have anyone experienced similar problem? How could I fix it? Hello: I have something similar, exactly: CheckHardware --sound xmms %U for mp3 association in konqueror. But even if I right click on a song file and select 'open with other' and run 'xmms %U' I get the same effect. I guess the culprit is xmms not KDE. Are you using the same version of xmms as me? Once more I have problem only with mp3 files that have empty spaces in their name. hi, To me your problem sounds like a shell escaping problem. Try to change the line to CheckHardware --sound xmms "%U" (quotes around %U) this might help in this case. Most likely different versions of XMMS are involved. Sorry, I can't test it myself, as I'm not using KDE nor XMMS :-) Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I actually have two kde menu items for xmms. 1) CheckHardware --sound xmms %U 2) xmms %f What is that CheckHardware bit? I can't find a man page for it but if typed with no arguments it says: Usage: CheckHardware [OPTION] <command> [command options] Available options: --sound check sound --3D check 3D -- _____________________________________ John Andersen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
