[opensuse] OpenSUSE Dell PowerEdge 1900 and SAS1068

Hello guys. I'm trying to install OpenSuSE on an old Dell PowerEdge 1900 server with SAS1068 controller and 4 disks of 285GB each. The installation runs normally, however after the reboot, the operating system is not found (does not recognize the boot partition) At first I tried to create two mirror type arrays (2 disks per array). As it did not work, I then created two stripping arrays and lastly I tried to install it with no defined array, but none of the alternatives worked (no booting after OS installation). Any tips? -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Already did that. The only available options are "embeedd NIC" and "hard disk c:" (in case, to install I'm using PXE boot) 2018-05-09 18:13 GMT-03:00 Knurpht @ openSUSE <knurpht@opensuse.org>:

You may need to provide a few additional details. PXE boot from where? Local server? How, tftp, apache, bootp? How are you telling yast to install the bootloader, and to where? Why are you not just installing the bootloader to one of the devices (either a raid device or a drive)? -- David C. You don't say what version of opensuse you installed. Did you use the LSI BIOS utility to setup your volumes? It seems that the installer is seeing the drives. Where are you telling yast to install the bootloader? This is probably not relevant since the installer can see the drives, but I did find this with a quick duckduckgo search. https://www.suse.com/support/kb/doc/?id=7003835. Are the partitions marked bootable? -- Per Jessen, Zürich (13.4°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi all, After changing the Boot Suport option to "BIOS Only" in the controller's setup, I was able to boot normally with OpenSUSE (before it was the default option: "Enabled BIOS & OS"). Thank you all for the help. 2018-05-10 5:49 GMT-03:00 Per Jessen <per@computer.org>:
