I have an Acer TravelMate 4010 running OpenSUSE 10 that as with most laptops has a button to turn wireless on and off. I have all my settings in YAST correct including encryption. However, I cannot get the button to turn on. I cannot find anything on the ACER webpage or anywhere else concerning this. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Aaron
Hello What is the output of the iwconfig and ifconfig command? Do you see your wifi card? You should see a line simular to the text bellow: ....... eth0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"linksys" Nickname:"thinker" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.417 GHz Access Point: 00:13:10:F2:C3:6B Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm Sensitivity=0/65535 Retry limit:16 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:****-****-****-****-****-****-** Security mode:open Power Management:off Link Quality=37/100 Signal level=-77 dBm Noise level=-88 dBm Rx invalid nwid:2 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:877 Missed beacon:0 wifi0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"linksys" Nickname:"thinker" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.417 GHz Access Point: 00:13:10:F2:C3:6B Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Tx-Power=20 dBm Sensitivity=0/65535 Retry limit:16 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Encryption key:****-****-****-****-****-****-** Security mode:open Power Management:off Link Quality=37/100 Signal level=-77 dBm Noise level=-88 dBm Rx invalid nwid:2 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:877 Missed beacon:0 eth1 no wireless extensions. ....................
