Hi all, Lucky me just acquired a new Epson 1650 Photo scanner! Now getting sane to see it is my next step! Can someone help as to what I need to add, change or otherwise fix to get my scanner recognized? Here is what I have so far: hwinfo sees scanner, all lights on, connects good thru USB. start modprobe scanner module-- good edited backend file in /etc/sane.d/epson.conf to use: usb /dev/usb/scanner0 (was originally /dev/usbscanner0, but there was no device of that name) run sane-find-scanner -v /dev/usb/scanner0 -- finds scanner there Still Kooka or Gimp or xsane will not see scanner, what did I miss? I have checked the standard places for answers already, but mention them anyway, just in case I missed one! ;o) Thanks, Patrick -- ---KMail 1.3.2--- SuSE Linux v7.3 Pro--- Registered Linux User #225206 /tracerb@sprintmail.com/ *Magic Page Products* Amiga-Sales & Service-http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb
Perhaps you're not so lucky. Search through the archives of this list and you'll find that the 1650 is being marked as not supported by linux (or something like that). While the 1640 is e.g.! Op woensdag 13 februari 2002 08:05, schreef je:

Hi all,

Can someone help as to what I need to add, change or otherwise fix to get my scanner recognized? ======================= Actually Richard, from the information I got from the Sane site, the 1650 is well supported and after getting it setup so easily, I can say it is very good! Even the Photo part is supported on this one! It does negatives & slides with the included adapter and that is supported in Sane as well on my SuSE. I know the 1250 is a no-no as Epson played around with another chipset in that one, but most other Epson scanners are well supported. If it is listed on the SuSE site as questionable,
====================== then it should be changed now! I like it a lot! Patrick -- ---KMail 1.3.2--- SuSE Linux v7.3 Pro--- Registered Linux User #225206 /tracerb@sprintmail.com/ *Magic Page Products* Amiga-Sales & Service-http://home.sprintmail.com/~tracerb
