Today, both my computers got a kernel update and both are dead in the water, unless I boot a previous kernel. This is on a desktop system, with Gigabyte mom board and a ThinkPad. They lock up immediately after the boot menu, requiring killing the power to clear. Has anyone else noticed this? BTW, in the twenty odd years I've been running Linux, this is the first time I had to resort to using a previous kernel.

In Tumbleweed, there was an update of the kernel from 6.2.4-1 to 6.2.6-1 today, but I have not experienced any problems. You will have to say what openSUSE you are using, and what exact kernel are you talking about.

I have forgotten how many times it happened to me. Ie, too many times to remember the number, in in 25+ years. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.4 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Sorry, Leap 15.4 and kernel 5.14.21-150400.24.49, which came out today. .46 works fine.
On my Lenovo T520, this kernel gets as far as Switching to i915 from FB VESA. The wifi light is on and the disk light occasionally flashes. How do I boot from a previous kernel? Jeffrey
I have the same problem with an older HP Pavilion g series, probably at least 10 years old, running Leap 15.4. My desktop, based on an Asus motherboard and AMD processor of a similar vintage, also running Leap, seems to be working fine. -- George H. Many others and me. Just search for kernel in Bugzilla and sort by date, e.g.: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1209436

Second time for me in the last year. :-/ Gruß Jan -- The best way to succeed in politics is to find a crowd that's going somewhere and get in front of them.
