Hi; My very recent SuSE 8.1 installation decided for me that I should be running kinternet. In other words, a "window" for it appears on my desktop, much as it would if it were in some autostart file somewhere. I have to "quit" it every time my desktop loads after booting and I have searched everywhere in every conceivable file like ~/.kde/share/config to stop this thing. Any ideas?? Thanks! -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd rather be sailing"

The obvious place to look but, alas, not there. And not in any Desktop-like directory :-( -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd rather be sailing"

How about /opt/kde3/share/autostart? Dylan -- Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not We are between the wars - Billy Bragg

Edit the file : /opt/kde3/bin/startkde and comment the lines 304 to 306 as below. I spent a lot of time to find where kinternet was initiated. # # do we have a configured provider ? # # if [ ! -e /${KDEMAINDIR}/share/autostart/kinternet.desktop -a -x /${KDEMAINDIR}/bin/kinternet ]; then # /${KDEMAINDIR}/bin/kinternet --quiet --kicker & # fi Good luck Catimimi.

All workable ideas, but I believe (though not using 8.1) you could have went to the Control Center, KDE Components, Service Manager, and uncheck KDE Internet Daemon. Not sure though which version of KDE this started. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Web Address: http://www.mydestiny.net/~joe_morris Registered Linux user 231871 God said, I AM that I AM. Apparently not in 8.1. Did not find "KDE Components". But it's dead (the zombie) and I like to know where the start script is anyway so I can play with it. Maybe I can get it to make coffee for me while KDE comes up. Thanks! -- Tony Alfrey tonyalfrey@earthlink.net "I'd rather be sailing"
