Greetings, How can I make SuSE 8.2 recognize my 2 mice at the same time - the built in one in my laptop (PS/2) and an external USB connected mouse? Right now, I have to use YAST2 to re-define my mouse settings if I start up the computer without the USB mouse connected because the built in one is not recognized, and vice versa. Now I would like to see the answer on that one too. I can do that in Windows and I would hate to even think that it couldn't be done with SuSE Linux. Damon Register

Assuming your talking about X, my XF86Config file is at the bottom of this page http://www.ottaky.com/vaiosuse.php This allows you to use the internal mouse and / or the USB mouse. sjb

You have some great information there and a nice looking desktop. Maybe all the regs in the list should setup a page somewhere with their basic information similar to your page and leave the link in their .signature file. Regards,
Paste this into your /etc/X11/XF86Config... (Note you probably already have one of these mouse sections in there. Just remove it and paste both of these in in place of the mouse section that is there). Do this as root, and MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE YOU DO. Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[1]" Option "Device" "/dev/pointer1" Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on" Option "Name" "Autodetection" Option "Protocol" "ps/2" Option "Vendor" "Sysp" EndSection Section "InputDevice" Driver "mouse" Identifier "Mouse[3]" Option "ButtonNumber" "5" Option "Device" "/dev/pointer0" Option "Name" "Autodetection" Option "Protocol" "imps/2" Option "Vendor" "Sysp" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" EndSection -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

Regards,
I am running 2 mice at the same time, both in Windows and v8.2. One is a Logitech Trackball and the other an A4Tech cordless (RF). Both are USB. SuSE (and Windows) just recognised the second one (the A4Tech) when I hooked it up and... it started to work. I can use either one depending on my mood. (Only thing, if using 2 USB mice do NOT have both on the same USB port otherwise only 1 will work.) Until you asked the Q (above) , I haven't even bothered to look at how they are both setup in the XF86 control file. Must go and have a look. -- Understanding only begins with the act of perception.
