[opensuse] Changes I made in kde 4 do not stick.
ref opensuse 11.1 kde 4.2.1 Problem: If I make changes on panel and or add a widget everything is OK until I reboot then all is back like it was before. Also the panel shows a couple of icons like empty pages not pointing to anything. I can remove them but then are coming back after reboot. Also a have a widget desktop folder and I whatever changes I made there do not stick after reboot. This is a brand new installation in an empty HD. This is my 5th machine and all the rest are working great. I look into permission and I donot see anything wrong. I did all the updates Any directions where should I look for this problem? -=terry=- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I had this when I updated 4.2 as well (Not the original upgrade to 4.2). You will see "orphaned" entries in ~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-appletsrc that are no longer in plasmarc. You will need to manually delete the entries that no longer match in plasmarc, or I suppose you could delete both, restart plasma, redo it's setup to your taste, and that should also work. No, that doesn't work either! I've deleted both files as root, without being logged in as user, then logged in as normal. NADA! Still get one extra app. launcher menu, extra blank icons on the sbar, and 1 blank icon on the desktop. Something is deffinately messed up! This on a BUNCH of systems! Fred, I've just delete the content of the file and save the file as is (with the empty content) instead of delete the file. I did it as a user in my user space. I have not look if the problem is also when I log in as root which I seldom do. Of course in this case it would be under /root -=terry=- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
