Apache2: Empty directory listings - client denied by server configuration
Hi,
I want to allow directory listings with "Options Indexes". However, a
request for the directory will return an empty listing, and for each
file (regular and subdirectory) in the directory in question I get an
error message "client denied by server configuration" in the error log.
This happens with apache2-2.0.50-7.3 from SuSE 9.2. I haven't touched a
single configuration file except /etc/sysconfig/apache2. My private
include file looks like this:
Listen 8100

Bingo. It works if the option "Indexes" is accompanied by "Order" and "Allow" in the same <Directory> (not <Location>). But why? The Apache docs do not really suggest that idea. And I never had a similar problem with Apache 1.x. Thanks for your quick help! :-) Guido -- Imperia AG, Development Leyboldstr. 10 - D-50354 Hürth - http://www.imperia.net/

I don't know if it is a typo, but one thing I noticed in your OP ist the erroneous closing slash within the opening Location tag: <Location />. Regards, -- Andreas Philipp Noema Ltda. Bogotá, D.C. - Colombia http://www.noemasol.com
