[opensuse] Plan B, issues using a NTFS USB drive with ntfs-3g?
Still evaluating filesystem for my new external drive, I already have FAT32 drives but would like to be able to store big files on this one. Any issues using NTFS-3g with USB disks? (and large files)... Regards,
I have used ext2 on USB drives without problem. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Every once in a while I plug in a external USB drive and NTFS-3g tells me that the filesystem was not shutdown cleanly. It recommends having windows clean up the dangling journal entries and do a clean unmount. I find the process pretty annoying. There is a force mount override, but I don't know how safe or dangerous that is. FWIW, I've had no issues at all with oS 11.4 and rw access to various sizes / models of Seagate 'Free Agent' external USB drives, either "before" (NTFS) or "after" (ext3, ext4) hth & regards, Carl -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Interesting... I've seen lots of "recovered errors" on my desktop, my latop registered same error, but just a few of them... Thanks for the inputs, I'm using XFS for the time being... Only annoying thing is UID@home != UID@Office != UID@laptop Regards, -- Ciro Iriarte http://cyruspy.wordpress.com -- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
