Re: [SLE] Background noise on soundcard
Hi, ** Just a day or so ago I started noticing a background noise ** on my sound card (a Soundblaster PCI128 running under 4Front ** OSS). It's a very light buzz that happens whenever I move ** the mouse. (That seems to exclude any problem with a loose ** connection in the sound system.) Does anyone have a guess ** as to what causes I should be looking at? I'm also running ** the imwheel driver for the mouse, which is a Logitech ** trackball with a wheel. That's the OSS drivers. I never get very good sound quality with them (background noise and clicking) so I just use the kernel es1371 driver. It's much better. I have had exactly the same problem with the same card which went away after a driver swap. If not - get an SBLive! They work nicely with ALSA and have no noise whatsoever :) Hope this helps, ----------------------------------------------------------- Chris Smith IS Dept - Raytheon Systems Limited [chris.smith@raytheon.co.uk] +44 1279 407 103 ----------------------------------------------------------- It would be stupid if when you wanted to look at your watch you had to give it a couple of seconds to boot up, then click Start, Time, then wait 5 seconds for the time app to load up.
