Probably. I don't know exactly how they did that. I installed Compiz and Beryl. I got nothing except a new icon look with the manager running. I couldn't get any 3d effects, or boxed desktops or anything. I disabled them and now just have this cool shadow effect on my icons, menus and windows. http://en.opensuse.org/Compiz http://en.opensuse.org/Xgl http://en.opensuse.org/Using_Xgl_on_SUSE_Linux http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/feature/17174.html -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There are some dafty plugins for Beryl but you need a very good machine to use them otherwise it just eats CPU and makes your system unstable. After a while you get bored and turn it off. No reason why you can't install it on Suse. Matthew -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Of course it ain't. Works on my SUSE 10.2, AM2 3800+, 2GB DDR2 and GeForce 7600GS / 8x AGP 256MB w/o any problems. However I got very quickly bored by the effects. Nevertheless I found the cube itself very useful, even in my productive environment. Same here. I find myself using it just for that and the app picker features. Just mouse up to the top right, my windows all swoop in front of me and I pick what I want. Sometimes I actually take advantage of the fact that the apps can still take keyboard input even while in their scaled size state, too - -- Andy Harrison public key: 0x67518262 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://firegpg.tuxfamily.org iD8DBQFGeWUpNTm8fWdRgmIRAk5lAKD4RJOlS0ZhFlBTjh+yDF94W7WJWgCggVoo Tt5lWG4iyhvGSOdPJQfc3c4= =omRx -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I was thinking of this. What if you have multiple virtual machines or remote machines running being accessed from each side of the cube? That would be nice. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

If the purpose of the machine is to run multiple virtual machines, it seems like a bad idea to run what is still basically an experimental window manager. - -- Andy Harrison public key: 0x67518262 -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://firegpg.tuxfamily.org iD8DBQFGeXXZNTm8fWdRgmIRAryIAJ9W0m/3WufRE+5TvnVM5VTTaHmN4QCgiSAM rhJ317DM8fb6YG/9J3iHq20= =Buh0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Plus, wouldn't it be less taxing on the machine if you set up those virtual machines as virtual desktops? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well, yes, in a sense, but if it's not experimented with and bugs reported, it'll never get stable will it? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You're missing the point. If it's a machine that's running multiple vm's, then the chances are pretty good that it's a production machine. Not the place for experimental software. -- Andy Harrison public key: 0x67518262 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
